Responsibilities
As a carpenter, your tasks include the following:
- Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs
- Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials
- Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
- Schedule and coordinate work on sites
- Supervise and instruct apprentices and other workers
- Maintain, repair and renovate structures
